The Lab Brings a New Style of Theatre to Butler Little Theatre
The Lab performance group brings the first in a series of unique theatre experiences to Butler Little Theatre at 7 pm on March 25th
For one night only, Nora Ephron's (author of When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle) play "Imaginary Friends" will be presented in reader's theatre.  Reader's theater is a style of theater in which the actors use only vocal expression to help the audience understand the story rather than visual storytelling such as sets, costumes, intricate blocking, and movement.

The story depicts writers Lillian Hellman (author of The Children’s Hour and Little Foxes) and Mary McCarthy (author of the Groves of Academe and Memoirs of a Catholic Girlhood) reuniting after death to reflect on their decades-long antagonistic relationship. Dating back to their first meeting at a conference at Sarah Lawrence College in 1948, it came to a head in 1980 when McCarthy, in a television interview with Dick Cavett, asserted, "every word she writes is a lie, including 'and' and 'the'".

Amy Dittman and Alison Carey star as Lillian Hellman and Mary McCarthy.

Tickets are available at the door for $5. The play contains adult language.  The theatre is located at 1 Howard St, Butler, PA 16001.
